Matt Williams

My name is Matt Williams and I am 16 years old. I snowboard for the fun and the passion of the sport. One of the best days snowboarding is cruising around with your friends and having a good time. I currently live in Mammoth Lakes, CA.

 

I started snowboarding at five years old while living in Anchorage, Alaska. When I was 12, I moved down to Arizona for a year. I rode at a small mountain and was an ambassador to the park. During this time I competed in the 3rd Rail Jam, taking first place and the Phoenix Ski Pro Rail Jam, taking third place in the pro division.

 

The season of 2011-2012 was my first year living in Mammoth and I came here to be able to ride better terrain and greatly advance my skills. I won the Mammoth Unbound series for slopestyle, halfpipe, and rail jam for the 2012 season. I then proceeded to get 5th at Nationals for slopestyle. I traveled to New Zealand in the summer and rode with my coach.

 

To start off 2012/2013 season, I placed second in the Volcom PBRJ and qualified for the PBRJ Finals. I got second in the Monster Recon Tour in Mammoth, 21st at the Rev Tour in NorthStar, 25th at the Rev Tour in Sun Valley, and 6th in the PBRJ Finals. During this season I plan to learn Frontside Double 1080’s, Switch BS 900’s, Cab 900’s, Backside 900’s, and Back Double Rodeo 900. For rail tricks, I am working on all four 270’s on and a couple 450’s off. I also plan to travel all over to compete this season. I will also be dropping TONS of edits this year.
